Prayer
Ministry The Elders and Prayer Ministry at Sylvan Hills believe in the power of prayer and that it is a vital and effective
link to our Most Awesome God. The Prayer Ministry is actively involved in the daily lives of our congregation. We plan and publish weekly prayer topics,
coordinate 5th Sunday night Prayer Services and 24 hour prayer and fasting vigils, and direct the Prayer Warrior Team. We meet monthly to plan and
coordinate the many facets of this ministry. We invite and encourage everyone to participate in this ministry. May our focus be on the one and only true God and it is
to His glory and power that this ministry exists.
Prayer
Warrior Team Sylvan Hills
has established a team of devoted individuals dedicated
to pray on behalf of our congregation and local
community. The Prayer Warrior Team is open to any member
of the church and all are encouraged to participate. The
focus of the Prayer Warrior is to petition God on behalf
of individuals, groups, or special events that are in
need of God’s loving care. We do this through daily
prayer for a specified length of time, usually one week.
For special occasions, a 24 hour period of unceasing
prayer and fasting may be planned. When outreach or
spiritual renewal activities are planned for the church,
it is the hope of each Prayer Warrior that their prayers
may open our hearts and souls so the Lord may bless our
efforts. Our Prayer Warriors know how important it is to
the one requesting prayers that their requests were
heard and prayers were offered on their behalf. We
follow our prayer time with a letter of encouragement to
the requester stating the amount of time and the time
period dedicated to prayer on their behalf.
Prayer
and Praise Requests Prayer requests
are received on a daily basis through our web site at
www.sylvanhillscofc.org and weekly through prayer cards
located in the church building. A list is compiled each
week and distributed to our Prayer Warrior Team members
so they are aware of the individuals and families in
need of being lifted up to God in their daily prayers.
We receive requests that include, but are not limited
to, health problems, death of a loved one, personal
struggles, mission work, deployment of loved ones
serving in the military, financial problems, and
marriage or family problems. Additionally, we have a
Praise Request area to share with others when our
prayers are answered. It is important to share with one
another and to praise God when He answers our prayers.
