About Greg
I was born and raised in Moore, Oklahoma (and graduated from the same High School as Toby Keith!). During the teen years my interests were band, choir, drama, horse riding (we lived on a farm south of Moore next door to my uncle who had two Appaloosas - Thunder & Lightening), and cruising in my ‘76 black Trans Am.
In 1983, I married Carol Franks and in 1985 we moved to Denver, Colorado to attend Bear Valley School of Biblical Studies. While attending the three year program, I had the opportunity to study during the week, ski (Loveland, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin) on Saturdays, attend a few Denver Nuggets and Broncos games, and preach at small mountain congregations on Sundays. What a life!
After graduation from Bear Valley in 1988, I attended Oklahoma Christian, Harding University Graduate School of Religion, and Southern Christian University. I’ve received a B.A. in Bible and M.Div. in Christian Ministry.
I’ve served in both youth ministries and preaching ministries in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Arkansas. God has blessed my family (we have 2 grown daughters and 2 adopted sons who are 13 and 10) beyond our wildest dreams! We’ve made friends with people from all over the U.S. and 4 foreign countries (Panama, Antigua, Cuba, and Mexico). We’ve had the opportunity to teach, travel, write, counsel, preach, eat tons of pizza with teens, “marry and bury”, laugh, cry, and best of all - baptize precious souls into Christ!
The Sylvan Hills church is an awesome and active congregation. They amaze me with their energy and commitment to the Master. Most of the time I’m just hanging on and counting myself fortunate to be a part of it. I give God thanks everyday for His grace and the open doors to touch lives.
Ministry is never dull. It’s full of surprises from the Lord! He delights in our service to Him! For what more could a person ask?
