Simplify
Your Life
Pulitzer
Prize winner Edwin Way Teale once wrote, “Reduce the
complexity of life by eliminating the needless wants of
life, and the labors of life reduce themselves.” His
comments speak directly to the stressed and exhausted.
Are you overburdened because your “wants” have taken
control of your life?
What if you didn’t buy the largest
house you could afford? What if you intentionally
kept your family calendar clear on Saturdays? What if
you stopped buying things you can’t afford and
began spending less than you make? What if you
took control of your life?
Sit down and write
out what is really most important to you. This list
will be your core values. Decision making based upon
core values simplifies life. What is it that you truly
want to accomplish in this life? Are you really moving
that direction? Are you preparing for eternity? A day
is coming when “the dust will return to the earth as it
was and the spirit will return to God who gave it”
(Eccl. 12:7). Write your thoughts out on paper.
Simplify the complex!
