Sermon
from Outdoors
Former
President and Nobel Peace Prize winner, Jimmy Carter,
once said, “It is good to realize that if love and peace
can prevail on earth, and if we can teach our children
to honor nature's gifts, the joys and beauties of the
outdoors will be here forever.” His desire to see a
heightened awareness of the need for conservation and
preservation is shared by many regardless of political
affiliation.
Living in Arkansas, where there is such
easy access to outdoor experiences with our families is
a rich blessing. Especially this time of the year, when
we are surrounded by beautiful shades of gold, red, and
orange, we are reminded of how the outdoors can
rejuvenate our spirit.
While you’re in the deer stand or fishing
at the lake or hiking a trail, take time to tune into
the sermon which is being broadcast. God’s eternal
power and divine nature are weighty topics. But
according to Romans 1:20 the outdoors are preaching a
sermon on these two subjects which everyone can
understand (cf. Acts 14:15-17). Pause a moment to truly
listen to the outdoors. Nature’s testimony is a
powerful sermon.
