Moments at the Mill: Devotional Thoughts from Greg

Peace
on Earth
When
the angels announced the birth of Jesus they proclaimed,
“Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace among
men with whom He is pleased” (Luke 2:14 NASB). Jesus
brought an opportunity for mankind to have peace with
God through the shedding of His blood on the cross of
Calvary. He also brings peace with others through the
fruit of the Spirit working in the lives of Christians.
Disciples pursue peace personally and pray for peace
nationally.
So what do you say when there is little
peace in our society? Wars persist among the
countries. Homicides and other violent crimes continue
in our cities. Homes become dangerous places rather
than the fortresses of security and affirmation they
were meant to be. Where is this peace on earth?
It is where it has always been – in
Christ! Inner peace comes through a relationship with
Him as your personal Savior. Peace in our homes is the
result of developing the mind of Christ and treating
each other with respect. There have been and will
always be wars between nations with opposing viewpoints,
but Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers.”
Pray for peace on earth and good will
toward all men. It is still possible through the Prince
of Peace.
