Moments at the Mill: Devotional Thoughts from Greg Clark
Parent's Love

It’s been said that to understand your parents’ love you must raise children yourself.  Parenting is sometimes difficult work!  If you truly love your children, you will at times be at odds with them.  Decisions made and discipline administered in the interest of their own welfare may not make everyone in the family happy.

Hold your ground.  There is a reason why children are not allowed to raise children.  Experiences, both good and bad, in the background of a parent equip them to make the difficult calls.  What if later you learn you’re wrong?  Apologize!  Even the way you handle personal misjudgments teaches your children.  There are no perfect parents and you’re not the first one to make a mistake.  But what if your unpopular decision turns out to be the right one and because of you much more permanent heartache and pain was avoided

Discipline your children; you'll be glad you did” (Prov. 29:17a MSG).  Showing love for your children involves doing today what will make a better tomorrow.
