Moments at the Mill: Devotional Thoughts from Greg Clark
Hurricane Waves

Hurricane Ivan created havoc all across the Caribbean and the coast of Alabama in September of 2004.  One product of the hurricane was the largest wave ever recorded by oceanographers at 91 ft. high.  Can you imagine seeing a 10 story wave coming your way?

Experts say the best thing to do if you find yourself in a boat with a large wave coming your way is attack it head on.  Don’t wait for the wave to come and cause you to roll over.  Ronald Warwick, captain of the Queen Elizabeth 2, steered his ship into a huge wave estimated at over 95 ft. high on September 11, 1995.  2200 passengers and crew survived the menace created by Hurricane Luis because the captain took the wave over the bow.

When circumstances come your way that are as overwhelming as giant hurricane waves, realize there may not be anything you can do to stop it, but you can survive it.  Every family needs a captain!  Steer your ship!  “For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline” (2 Timothy 1:7).
