Moments at the Mill: Devotional Thoughts from Greg Clark
Have You Forgotten?

With each passing anniversary, the events of 9/11 fade into the shadows of our present reality.  It’s easy to reason in our minds that we must move on.  Pausing to reflect brings back a certain amount of pain and frustration.  However, there are aspects of that fateful day I hope we’ll never forget.

I hope we’ll remember the vulnerability we felt in the first few hours.  Watching events unfold one by one on live TV, we wondered what would happen next.  Our sense of security had been taken away.  In reality, we never know what tomorrow holds.  Today is the day to prepare for eternity (James 4:14).

Another aspect of 9/11 we need to recall and reclaim is the unity we had in crying out to God.  Congressmen were on the front steps of the Capitol singing “God Bless America.”  Churches of all denominations were praying.  Prayers were offered in public settings where they had previously been silenced.

God listened as our nation asked for His comfort.  Don’t forget.
