Fear
Everyone
enjoys a little scary fun this time of the year.
“Haunted” houses, spooky hay rides, and creepy costumes
are a part of fall family traditions. Some take it a
little too far and begin to elevate that which is evil
and is of darkness. But for the most part, people just
like to see their kids have fun dressing up and filling
their plastic pumpkins with candy.
Enjoying some frightening fun during the
fall season and living in fear are two different
subjects. Fear is no fun when it takes over your life.
The evening news is full of terrifying reports of bombs,
murders, robberies, wildfires, and fatal diseases.
Bunkering down in isolation in your home is not the
answer.
Jesus Christ can empower you to walk in
confidence in this life. With Him as your Savior, there
is no reason to fear evil people (Matthew 10:28; Hebrews
13:6), natural disasters, or death (Romans 8:35-39; 2
Corinthians 5:6-8). Remember, “God has not given us a
spirit of fear, but of power and love and discipline” (2
Timothy 1:7).
